Andy M Renshaw
25th Monday April 2016
Andy M Renshaw is a contemporary artist and a recent
graduate from the Interactive Media course from Manchester Metropolitan University.
He is part of the number of speakers we have been offered as part of Unit X to
gain new insight into different areas and potentially gain inspiration for our
work.
Andy M spoke about his recent exhibition and the challenges
he faced during the installation and during the showing. He explained how he
used the space to his advantage and incorporated his work into it which made
the whole show work together as one composition. Claiming that the Unit X
project was very important to him and how he photographed the entire process,
this way he could record his progress and development.
I took notes throughout the talk which can be seen below.
Overall I have taken a few points from the whole talk: that jobs do not take “just
ten minutes”. This I important because I will consider this during the
installation of our work in the space, we will give ourselves more time to
anticipate delays and problems. Another point was to use the space with the
work (and vice vera) this makes the space effective as it creates a whole
space.
However I was disappointed by the talk overall, this is
because it was delivered very unprofessionally and unclear. This is because
Andy M delivered a very casual talk, going off topic and repeating himself
about unnecessary topics one involving a fly. When I attend talks I expect them
to be delivered professionally and clearly; that I can understand the message
and lessons they wish to share.
Notes from talk: unclear as I didn't have my pen.
