Visual Effects: Camera Induction

So it Begins

9th January 12017 (celebrating over 12000 years of human history)

First day back on the course, second year first term. We had an induction on how to properly use the Canon 5 Mk. III cameras. These are very expensive cameras that require us to have had an induction before being allowed to use one. Being the first day we have not been introduced to the project this term, however the inductor (a technician within the university) told us that Andy had shared an email about why the induction was taking place. She shared with us that it will be a visual effects project.

This leads me to believe that we will be incorporating animated effects from both Maya and Nuke into live action video, and we will be using the cameras to capture that video. I’m unsure if this will be taking place in groups as there are only three cameras available to 60 plus students across the university.

During the session I took notes regarding the settings and tools on the camera which may prove useful during filming.

I am looking forward to the idea of animating a character or creature within a live action environment; I would like to animate a creature like King Kong exploring the city.
